Uber reportedly spent its entire 2026 AI budget by April. Not because a project failed, but because one worked. The invoice was easy to read. The software it produced was not on it.
That gap between what gets counted and what actually happened runs through this whole edition. Token spend measures consumption, not output. Website traffic is falling for most companies while conversion rates rise, and finance teams still read the first number. A Lighthouse update raised PageSpeed scores on pages nobody touched.
The newest tools inherit the same problem. Analytics agents now produce more insights than half of companies can evaluate. Figma runs growth experiments with an agent and a single human checkpoint, which only works if that human sits at the step where false wins get caught. And AI shopping assistants can only count the product details they can actually read.
Seven pieces below on choosing the number that matches the work, and noticing when the ruler changes length.
Find the TikTok search keywords you are quietly losing
TikTok has added Impression Share and Top 1 Impression Share to Search Ads, showing how many eligible search auctions your keywords actually won, plus curated brand and category Keyword Packs refreshed daily. This week, open the keyword-level view in TikTok Ads Manager and list the terms capturing only a small share of their eligible impressions. If the campaign is spending its full budget, test a higher budget on those terms; if it is not, your bid is the problem, so check it first. Then preview the suggested Keyword Packs and add only the terms your creative and landing pages genuinely match.
Happy Growth,
Dan
