Something is happening across several apparently unrelated stories this week that, read together, tells a single coherent thing.

The businesses that survived the zero-click AI search transition had one thing in common: proprietary assets. Not better content. Not better SEO. Something you could only get from them. A tool. A dataset. A transaction. 92% of 400 analyzed winning websites shared this trait.

Half of product managers are being structurally displaced, not because AI is better at their job, but because the coordination overhead that consumed 70% of their time can now be automated away. What remains is the judgment work. That work is worth more. But it requires fewer people. Companies will shed around 30,000 PM positions and rehire 8,000 restructured ones.

Intercom doubled engineering output in nine months by treating AI tools as infrastructure, not subscriptions. Amazon put another $5 billion into Anthropic and got $100 billion in compute commitments back. The App Store posted 104% year-over-year growth because AI development tools collapsed the cost of building mobile apps. Chinese workers are being asked to document their workflows so AI agents can replicate them. Some are building sabotage tools in response.

These are all the same story. The baseline cost to build, automate, and distribute has dropped. What rises in value is what can't be automated: proprietary position, judgment, brand, relationships. This week's edition is about the new infrastructure. Not just the technical kind.

Claude Design
Anthropic launched Claude Design this week for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. Describe what you want to visualize and Claude builds a working prototype, slide deck, or one-pager. Export as PDF, URL, PPTX, or directly to Canva. If you've spent more time than you wanted explaining a concept before a designer could run with it, spend 20 minutes with this first. It won't replace a design team for production work. For initial concept visualization and first-draft communication, it changes the workflow meaningfully. Available at claude.ai for eligible subscribers.
