The Weekly Vibe #5: The Saturation Point

<p>Several stories this week, read separately, look like routine industry updates. Read together, they tell a single coherent thing about where the economic structure of marketing and software just landed.</p>

<p>A randomized field study of over a thousand Chrome users measured AI Overviews stripping 38% of clicks from publishers, with no satisfaction gain to defend the trade. A Stanford and Imperial College study put the share of AI-generated new websites at 35% by mid-2025. Snapchat's CEO went on record this week saying only two consumer apps have broken through in 15 years and distribution is now the only durable moat. March 2026 was the worst month for tech layoffs in two years, with 45,800 positions eliminated as Big Tech reallocates capital from people to chips.</p>

<p>DeepSeek released V4, an open-source model that matches Claude Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.4 on a fraction of the compute, optimized for Huawei's domestic chips. OpenAI open-sourced Symphony, a specification that turns Linear into a control plane for coding agents.</p>

<p>Each of these stories points the same direction. Volume just stopped being a moat. The cost of production fell to near zero across content, code, and customer outreach. What rises in value is what can't be commoditized: original observation, owned distribution, judgment, and the orchestration layer that turns raw model capability into operational outcomes. This week's edition is about saturation as the new economic structure of marketing. The companies that reallocate first capture the disproportionate share before the rest catch up.</p>

One Thing to Try

Google Ads Advisor (3 New Agentic Features)

Google rolled out three new agentic safety features in Ads Advisor this week. Proactive troubleshooting flags policy violations before they cost you. 24/7 security monitoring audits accounts and surfaces personalized recommendations through a dashboard. Instant certifications determine eligibility automatically and grant approvals in one click. If your team runs Google Ads at any meaningful scale, these features remove the worst administrative tax on the work without taking action without your approval. Available now to all English accounts globally, with more languages rolling out.

Happy Growth,

Dan
